evening WI, That sucks mike, sorry to hear about that.
Good evening Dave. I guess it was bound to go out sometime, it was in there for 12 years or so. The pump I put in there has a lifetime warranty, so if it goes out it should be replaced cheap or free.
i bet you had the windows open to air it out i bet it smelled worse than a ''water'' lagoon at a farm, i installed fog lights on the truck today,i was wondering if i can have two sets of lights on one switch
ok, i want lights on the back for plowing and i dont know if my alt will handle all the lights,i have a strobe light,8 running board lights, plow, and a cd player, the voltage gauge is in the mid range or a little lower with everything going
That's why 90% of the larger items I need to buy are purchased online. Most times, I don't need it right away and even with shipping I save quite a bit of money.
Recent example, I needed a new caliper, pads and rotor for the rear of my truck. Got everything online from Rock Auto, paid tax (would have paid tax in the store too) and shipping and even after sending the core caliper back still saved $58 over buying locally.
Same when it came to needing a starter for the truck, bought one from DB Electric for $115 shipped, for a new starter and no core charge. Local parts store wanted $180 for a reman.
but there is a side effect to a higher amp alt. it may mess with the ECM! but alot of them don't. so long as you don't go above 13.5-14 vdc. most stock alternators
will peak at 15 vdc on startup. and go down after startup. and stablize at 13.5 to 14 vdc. and if you have all those lights on it its going to make the alternator work harder
while they are on. which will bring the voltmeter down.
with a plow truck you should have at least 100-120 amp alternator. or for now before you shut it down let it idle with everything shut off for about 10-15 minutes before you shut the engine down.
