Ext. Cab seat belts

Hey guys, I just got a 95 F150 Ext. Cab and have a seat belt question. My son rides in the back in his booster seat, and last night I noticed that the rear seat belts don't lock when you yank on them like the front ones do. Is this normal? I'm afraid if I get into an accident or get on the brakes real hard that he's going to smash right into the front seat. Let me know if anyone has any wisdom on this subject, I don't know any way to test it unless I go out and just slam on the brakes and see what happens, which isn't exactly the best method

Thanks

They are a legal requirement. Therefore, unless yours are broken, they should work. Do you have a sibling or a friend that you are not that fond of? Test the belts with someone you don't like first...LOL.
I am just kidding of course.
Having said that, The safety of our children should be of the utmost importance and I hope you can verify they work.
Perhaps if you take the one on drivers side and pull it far enough that you can hold onto it while driving and then lock'em up. Not sure what else to suggest, but do let us know, as I will need to know soon too.

being that both back seat belts act the same I was thinking that it's unlikely that they are broken....but it's possible. Obviously they would have had to work from the factory to meet safety guidelines. Guess I'll try to do some more research, if anyone else has any insight let me know, or if anyone with an Extended cab is willing to go out to there truck to check it out, even better!

Just for fun I went out and tried mine.....
I did manage to get them to lock on like 2 out of 8 tries while simply giving them a fast solid yank. However, I don't think that they are meant to lock up when you jerk them. I suspect that there is something else that comes into play when the brake pedal is depressed "quickly"...but I'm not sure.
I would pull it to the front far enough that you can hold it over your left shoulder and like I said before.....hit the brakes. Only one way to know for sure. I suspect since this is a safety item, they are built to last and you are just unable to trigger the lock by yanking on it.

They are inertia activated. there is a counter weight inside of them It senses the stopping motion NOT a yank on the belt.
