Batteries are taking a dump on you- have them tested. If one is bad, replace BOTH. If you only replace one, the old one will drag the new one down. Welcome to FTE!

Sounds like a battery issue to me too, especially when you mentioned that colder weather makes it worse. If you have one bad battery, then you only have a marginal amount of juice to crank the truck in ideal weather. In the winter time and in colder temps, all bets are off.

Welcome to FTE.

I had the same thing happen to me. I was wondering what the heck is all that crap ticking. 2 batteries later, good to go.

i was just about to ask the exact question, i have a ford courier work ute and only drive my truck on the weekends now, the other day i stopped at the shops and turned the car off and it sounded like my indicators were on and flashing like crazy so i turned the key back on and it stopped but i had no power at all after turning the key off and on a couple of times it all came good. does this sound like the batterys are on there way out also.
i did check the batterys with a multimeter and one was a couple of volts lower than the other...

Besides, you should check the voltage under a load. If it drops below 10.5 ( i believe) is when you get the clicking..

it just seemed weird cause it has never given me a problem before ever, i'll give the batteries a clean and see how it goes.
when you say check under load, do you mean having the engine running with maybe the headlights and the A/C going.

Have someone start your truck while you check the voltage at the batteries.
