engine lite

f-250 ,02 v10 85,000 miles. The engine light comes on while towing. The light will go off after towing. Seem to be using oil. Had the fuel pump replaced once. Plugs replaces and injectors cleaned. Truck seems to run fine. Whats going on. Would a coder be a good thing to have?

You really have to read the codes to find out what the computer is complaining about.

Not sure about what code reader to use on the V10, but you could get a place like Autozone to try reading them for free.

Any gas OBD2 reader with a ford module should work fine. The ford module isn't strictly needed, but it's nice to view OEM specific faults.

The problem could be many things, reading the codes would be the easiest way to find out.

I'd be looking at the O2 sensors. Autozone can read that code if it is.
