LED Taillights
Has anyone changed to LED brake/tail lights? I want to keep the same housing and was wondering if anyone has changed the bulbs to LED and if they are bright enough.

i cut in a pair of 4" round led lights for a tractor trailor. pretty bright. now I have a pair of blackout covers on them and they are still just fine. check my gallery for some pics. its the first album.

I also cut out the back of my stock housings and added some of the oval led truck/trailer lights. They are very bright and look great along with keeping the stock housing look.
The replacement bulbs are not nearly as bright.

I have a custom system designed and the bulbs should be delivered today or tomorrow.
I'll post pictures of the process, but basically, I am moving the stock stop/turn/tail lamp up to the empty upper area and putting new brake/tail fed off the third brake light to the lager center cavity.
I am using combo of 3157 and adding a few 1157 replacement sockets to increase light output.
I currently have V-LED's 60 M-SMT TAIL/BRAKE LIGHT BULBS 3157 installed and they are good, but not quite as bright as a good quality filiment bulb so that is why I am adding additional units.
BTW: I also have V-LED's ELECTRONIC LED FLASHER BLINKER W/CLICK SOUND and it is fantastic. Much better than the load resistor method.

I am just moving it up and adding two new LED units for the brake light housing.
