Phoenix area tuning help.
Just found out my truck does not have a stock tune. I would like to get it programmed back to stock so I know what I'm starting with before it install a tuner.
I bought it used and don't have the programmer, pretty sure it was a Superchip ODBII style since there was a Superchip sticker in the glove box when I bought it. But the plug is also missing from my computer behind the E-brake pedal????
Ford dealer want's $100. Is that a good price? I heard if you have the computer/tools a new stock tune download costs $25. I know the equipment to do that is pricey but had to ask if anyone was feeling generous. I will pay you what it cost you plus tip unless you all think the dealer is my best bet. I would hate to pay a stranger to reflash my truck in the Costco parking lot and end up with a truck that has to be towed to the dealer after all. I think I just answered my own question.
Also, I read where a guy was trying to do the same as me but after he got his truck back from the dealer a Superchip said it couldn't tune it because it was not stock. Come to find out there were 2 things on these 7.3 that have to be reflashed. PCM and ECM or ECU, not sure what they're all called. Does anybody know about that or does the dealer just plug in, hit erase and install the latest update and it's done.
