I have looked at the photos and descriptions of how to remove the hp pump ... they are great. One question I have that appears very important. It has to do with all the post that express the importance of not dropping the tappet pin. One thread says "lift the pump straight out until the tappet pin clears the hole. Which hole, on the pump or the top of the engine. Do you remove the pin with the pump or leave the pin in the engine. If it is to come out of the top of the enging, any tricks to properly replacing it.
Welcome to FTE. What year truck are you dealing with? I have a feeling you might have posted in the wrong section since our pumps are electric and mounted on the side of the frame rail. If you're referring to an injection pump, we'll have a moderator move this thread to the appropriate section for you.

The fuel pump (FP) is driven off the cam shaft. It is located in the lifter valley of the engine. After you have removed the bolts from the fuel pump, rotate the engine by hand until the pump lifts of its mounting surface....then you can safely remove the pump w/o fear of the lifter falling into the engine.

I have looked a a few mods, I doubt I will make any. Only mods to my truck are " air intake and 4" ss exhaust. Only thing I have ever pulled is my 22' mako boat. Never had a 5th wheel in or pulled anything really heavy.
Great truck, 97 white XLT 4 door 4x4 short bed 120k miles, excellent cond inside and out.
Would possibly sell, don't really need this much truck for what I do. What are they worth? Had someone offer me $16,000 last summer but was using it to pull by boat around and not really interested at that time.

Well, I have to say that you should had sold the truck in that price, because is very high IMHO, I know its not a very common truck, I would like to buy it, because Im looking to have one 1997 F350, automatic, crew cab, short bed, XLT, 4X4 and low mileage. but yours is F250 and I dont know if it is auto o standard.

The F350 crewcabs only came with a longbed and the F250 crewcabs only came with a shortbed and only in 96 and 97.
