I was out haveing some fun with my new sct and 9 codes showed up, p0273 which is Injector Circuit Low cly 5 and all the rest for the other 7 cylanders and also p0611 Fuel Injector Control Module Performance. My truck runs fine and no smoke. Does any one know what could cause this problem?
Could be a faulty FICM, that seems to be going around lately here. You could try to run a test on each of the injectors and see what that comes up with.
I just went through the same thing its not the SCT its the FICM. Hopefully your truck is under warranty and you can get it fixed for the 100.00 deductable. There is a waiting list for those FICM's so be patient when you bring it in. If your not under warranty then try and give Matt at Spartan a call and see if he has a spare one laying around.
Make sure that you check the starting/charging system and ensure its up to specs. Thats the #1 killer of FICMs especially if you have the inductive heating flash.
One morning it just started blowing smoke, the injectors stopped making noise on key up, and it ran rough for about 1-2 minuites and progressivley got worse as time went on. I had a bad battery last year and replaced both in about April or so.
Make sure you unload the tunes and drive it around for a little while before bringing it in. As for me to say will they void the warranty due to mods. I guess every dealer is different on that aspect. Mine is mod friendly and stand behind the product...yours maybe different.
My dealer is bad about if something isnt notisbly wrong they wont do anything about it. If my only reason to take it in is becaues it has codes i dont think they will do anything. will it cause any more problems if i just wait till it goes out?
If you have the P0611 code they should do something about it. I beleive that there is a technical service bulletin on that too with a revised service procedure. I think Bismic may have it and will chime in soon...I hope. Sounds to me that you may want to find a new dealer too. We pay too much for these trucks not to have good service.
It took me 4 trucks and about 10 years of aggrivation to find this out. Hopefully it will work out for you. I am sure that if the FICM goes bad it will not allow the truck to run, but I am not 100% sure of what the outcome would be as my dealer is good to me and gets it ifxed right the first time.
