In my exitement to start trying to figure this project out, I may have posted to soon. I havn't seen the truck yet. My dad found it and told me about it. Well, my dad looked at it last night. One thing he negleted to tell me before was that the truck is an F3. Does this make a difference for any suspensions swaps/modifications?
So is the consensous that any kind of Frame mateing is not recommended. I have a lot more time than money, and I have the tools to do it, but I still want to be able to take this thing down the interstate at 75 mph and have it feel like a car. The friend who will help me with this project has his own little junkyard, so I can pretty much get the any of the parts I want for little or nothing if I could make them work.
I also want to do it right, and if buying one of these kits is the best way to go, I'll find a way to make it work.
Thanks for all the info, you guys are great!!
Any front suspension kit that will fit an F-1 will also fit an F-3. The F-3 has a longer wheelbase (122 inches as opposed to 114 for the F-1), and 8-lug wheels front and rear. The bed is also longer and wider and body parts are a little harder to find. You might want to consider converting it to an F-1 , especially if the bed, fenders, or running boards are in poor shape. I converted my 48 F-3 to an F-1. See my gallery for details.
