I went from the aod to a c6 in my 83 ford f100 now my drive shaft is to long. I was wondering if i could swap the tail housings and how hard it was to do.
Just go to the junkyard and get a used driveshaft from a truck that had the c6 with your length wheel base. You could also just get the driveshaft you have now shortened. There is usually a shop in every large town that does that work for around $100.00
my shaft is to long and to small to fit in the tranny
This sounds very very bad.
I would check a shop, I've had drive shafts shortened for as little as $50. The JY is also a good idea. There should be no difference between the truck and van transmission. If you find a truck that is the same length as yours with a C6 that has a DS, the only difference you might have is the rear u-joint. I have had the problem before and both times, a driveline shop gave me some different bearing caps to make the joint fit for free.
