are the tail lights on the 08+ f250s able to be just swapped out with the ones on our trucks? i like the look of the new tail lights and want to get a pair for my truck and was wondering if anyone has done this or not and if they had to do anything with the wiring, light housing, etc.
Yes. All tail lights 1999-2012 are interchangeable.
Also, to complete the look, you can get an 08+ tailgate as all 1999-2012 tailgates are interchangeable too. However with the 08+ tail gate you will need a small part which costs about $20 at a dealer.

I was looking to do this what small part would I need?

I think its a little hinge for the torsion bar in the tailgate. Ask the dealer, they will know.
It amazes me how good parts guys are. I can say "I need this" show him a part number and they go "Oh a [Insert obscure part here]. Sure I'll be right back."

If you can find those parts at a dealer for $20 buy 100 sets and resell em. My local dealer "Sarasota Ford" wants $80 for the two reverse light sockets and pig tails.
I have read that someone used a "fits all" socket from autozone, but I went with factory parts when I swapped in 08 taillights.

That is a different part my friend We are talking about for the tailgate.
I dont like the idea of a makeshift AutoZone contraption.
Trey,
"Makeshift" and "contraption" kinda' implies that Robin would do something sub-standard to his truck. Most of us can assure you that nothing could be farther from reality.
Over the years, Robin has established himself as doing top-quality work, and if he deemed it OK to use aftermarket parts in this application, I'd not think twice about doing the same.
