Bedplate Leak

Just got off the phone with the dealer.

My truck has a bedplate leak.
They also told me that a reflash would take care of the rough cold weather starts. Does this sound right?

Also the battery light is on because of a problem with the instrument cluster. They want 550 for that.

Get the bedplate fixed and the latest flash, you'll be happy.

The instrument cluster battery light? Dunno on that one.... anybody else?

I'd like to hear the explanation for that one. Not saying it isn't so, just curious.

i got the "latest" flash and it didnt do nothing for my cold starts, or power. infact it lost power. the tech told me that they put all the latest updates in the computer and it should be alot better. i'm still waiting for the "alot better" part to kick in. was the battery light on when you took it in?.

I've had the inductive flash since it came out and have had no difference in power or mileage. I do like the fact that if you idle for over a certain period of time it exercises the turbo.

Made an appointment to fix the leak in a couple of weeks - They are busy now I guess.

Talked to the tech and it had a code - cant remember maybe 0706 or something?
Anyway he said it was high exhaust backpressure which was causing the lack of power.

I drove it home and noticed a difference toward the positive.
When I started it I noticed it turned over a bit slower - Maybe because the glow plugs are pulling more amps as a result of the new flash?????
It did seem to run better though. maybe a bit more power plus it seemed to shift firmer.
I had a smile on my face.

I asked the tech about doing head studs while he has the engine apart because I want a tuner after the warranty is up. He told me to wait with the studs since I still have 30K left.

After talking to the tech I think I am going to go ahead and get a tuner.

Its definitely a tech that I will go back to. I asked lots of little questions and he seemed very happy to talk to me and seemed to really enjoy working on our finnicky little engines.

Forgot to answer this question in last post.

Yes I asked them to diagnose the light. I posted some time ago in the SD thread about all my gauges going to zero while going to down the road.

Sounds like I nead an instrument cluster but I hate to get a new one when I have been thinking of getting white-faced gauges. that 550 could be better spent elsewhere
