Dealer informed me Monday that my hanging bellhousing drip was coming from the bedplate. I am supposed to have the truck back tomorrow, Thursday. The SA stated that the trans had to be dropped but that the cab did not have to be lifted. Is this true. I checked the tech folder and could not find the procedure to correct the bedplate leak. What is involved in this. Any info would be appreciated and thanks in advance.
Not sure on the exact details, but the bedplate is on the back of the motor so either the motor has to be pulled or the transmission has to be pulled to access it.

He may be suggesting the rear main seal... The bed plate seal is a bear! More info here
FMC, forgive me for posting your materials... I'll take them down in a little while.
Got my truck back today, Thursday, at 3pm. Talked to two SA's and they both confirmed that it was the bedplate seals/gaskets that was replaced and they did not pull the engine or lift the cab but did drop the tranny. They stated that they do it this way all the time. They have 4 certified diesel mechanics and get alot of diesels that were not sold here because of their repair shop. Guess I can't complain. They said it was done last night but wanted today to run it and verify no leaks and to clean the truck up. They even washed it. Kudos to Hemborg Ford in Norco and Gabe the SA.
I had my bedplate leak fixed 2 months ago and I haven't seen a drop anywhere since. I've put 3500 miles on it since then and I'm very pleased. They lifted my cab and since they were going to do it, I had them install ARP headstuds while they were in there. Now I'm really pleased!

I guess it's the luck of the draw. Just took my truck to Sunrise Ford in Fontana toay. I have taken my truck twice to Hemborg and they couldn't fix it. Truck is current at 33,000 miles. Every second oil change a leak develops at the bell housing. Thought I would try another shop. They are running dye today to test. Possible bedplate and told me a week to fix.
