AirBag Light 2000 Expo

I just bought a Ford 2000 Expedition XLT and the light for the airbag flashes then stays on. I have spend many hours reading and researching what the problem might be. I ran the tester and got the DTC B1932 and B1933. I know B1932 is "Driver side air bag high resistance" while B1933 is "Passenger side air bag circuit high". I seen the suggetion of replacing the ClockSpring, but that would only help B1932 (I'm assuming). What my question is why are both airbags giving the high resistance error? Is there a common ground wire they share that might be loose? Maybe near the SRS computer the monting bracket where it grounds is loose (where the SRS computer is I'm not sure). Any help would be great!!!

Has the light been on since you bought it? If so, the airbags might have been deployed and never replaced.

Holly cow I bet you are right. The light was burned out when I bought the Expedition a few days ago, so I replaced the light to stop the 5 beeps errors. Both funners don't really match the rest of the car, so the airbags may have been deployed. I guess the next step for me is to see if the airbags are in place.

Make sure you disconnect the battery for at least 10 minutes before poking around the airbags or the circuitry for them.

You said the bulb was out... when you started the truck did the ABS light ever come on?

I ask as we get the beeping too and I know our 2000 was in a front end accident (carfax report) and repaired but we don't know if the airbags deployed. I just have not had teh time to try to trouble shoot the beeping yet but perhaps I need to consider this too.

Perhaps I need to just take it to the dealer and have them run the codes so I can get an answer as that beeping is enough to drive me crazy.

The airbag module does emit a beeping sound to warn you that the airbag light on the dash is burned out. If the airbag light comes on when you first turn the key on, then the warning tone you're hearing is for something else.

You guys were right. I removed the airbags (after disconnecting the battery and waiting 10 min) then took a look inside. I found that someone had stuff some of the airbag back in and cut the rest off. Then glued it shut. I went to the junk yard and bought two airbags and install them with a new airbag modulator. Now I'm good to go. Thanks Everyone, This site is great because of people like you!!<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

Sounds like to have grounds for a lawsuit against whomever you bought the vehicle from to cover the cost of replacing the airbags. What they did was highly illegal.
