How tight you have to hold on to the steering wheel?
Just kidding I dont know of any other way but with a gauge. One thing you must remember is you build most of your boost on the road loaded with the pedal to the floor.

Or have a scanner that can monitor live data off the MAP. My AE can read boost levels by plugging in to the OBDII port. Of course if you just want to know your boost level, it would be cheaper to buy a gauge.

That approach only works for a truck that doesn't have the Overboost Annihilator on it. Otherwise, you will see no more than 25 psi, whatever you do.
