Boost question
I just finished installing boost and pyro guages. It took about 3.5 hours to install. I do have a boost question. I noticed at 1500 rpm the boost is about at zero. The only time I get the boost up is when I floor it and get the rpms up. Is boost related to rpms? At idle is the boost at zero?

at idle... the boost is zero. boost is relative to the amount of work that you are asking the truck to do. if you are parked and just floor the thing it will read about 5 psi. it doesn't require much for the truck just to rev the engine. if you are leaving from a stop it takes more. with a moderate-quick acceleration, you should see ~10psi ... at full bore, passing somebody, hauling tail you should see ~15psi more or less. these numbers will be higher if you have it chipped or programmed.

i did the same thing. you get the boost gauge hooked up and crank the beast over just to sit in the driveway and rev the heck out of it. i took mine apart twice before it dawned on me that i wouldn't get a decent reading unless the engine was under load. i am sure that many have done the same and just didn't mention it.
