I think it is more of a matter of what it is you are talking about? Alot of parts have different names depending on what part of the world you are from....Can you describe what it is that you are wanting to adjust?
hellow billy bob. yes tex i think that is what the ford tech was talking about i was told that it would release the pressure if the wastegate fails. is this correct and again thanks for all of you helping me with info
i took the boost controller off because it did not work it does have a wastegate but the ford tech said that it had a back up valve incase the wastegate failed that is run through the ecm.

There is no backup valve either. I don't know what your Ford tech was trying to explain to you. Maybe he was talking about the wastegate solenoid? That's nothing more than a solenoid that diverts airflow to the wastegate actuator to push it open. That's the only extent of control the PCM has over the wastegate.
Ahh, maybe. I test drove a '97 and it was definitely non-wastegated, and I drove a '99 and it also looked to me like it didn't have a wastegate, but I guess I didn't look close enough.
