Guess it is the wave of the Future. A couple of months ago I bought a Snap On tool cart. It had stickers on it stating it was made in Chiina. Today I bought a used "brick' and the guy in front of me bought a Snap On electric screwdriver and stamped right on the side of the box was made in China. You promted me to look at the "brick" doesn's say made in USA just Snap On Wi usa but does not say made in China either, so who knows?

Hate to tell you, but 90% of the stuff you buy is made in China. It doesn't matter if it Mac, Snap On, Matco, Craftsman, or whatever.

I've been buying almost exclusively from Mac and most of the major stuff is made in USA. I think its stuff like test lights and small screwdrivers and such thats made in Taisingland. Snap on doesn't make their torque wrenches either, they are made by Precision Instrument, our local Mac guy is carrying them now.

ALOT of tools nowadays are made by one company, then rebadged by SnapOn, Mac, Matco or even craftsman. I bought a test light from Matco a couple months ago, then saw the EXACT same one at Sears not a week later. ONLY difference was the name on the side, and the price, the craftsman one was 10 bucks cheaper. Ive also got a set of allen wrenches made by some no name brand, and my buddy has the EXACT same set made by Snap on, down to the pat. numbers molded into the side. I paid 10 bucks for mine, he says he paid 40 for his. If you look around, its easy to see that most specialty tools are not made by the big manufacturers

Matco is Craftsman, Mac is Stanley, Snap on is I don't know what. Most if not all impacts are made by Ingersoll... How are your guys' salesmen? 'cause here Matco and Snap On are ridiculously overpriced, the salesmen kinda suck, and they drive around in VERY EXPENSIVE looking rigs. Mac on the other hand is fair priced(considering the competition), the salesman will bend over backwards to make sure you've got what you need and drives what looks like a delivery truck that you'd see hauling potato chips, he's obviously not making a huge killing on us.

We don't get Matco tool salesmen up here in Canada.

But as far as I know, Mac is Stanley, as previously posted. Stanley also owns Husky tools.

Snap On is Snap On. There are some tools that are not made by Snap On, take the Allen keys for example. But sockets, wrenches, ratchets, screwdrivers, and tool boxes, are all Snap On. Pliers, I've been told, are made by Klein. Don't know to what extent, but the electrical pliers for sure.

Did you know that Mastercraft is also Stanley? I used to work at Canadian Tire and was suprised when we got a package from Stanley telling us about some Mastercraft promotion.

I laughingly can them Snap - Wan. He He. Although I still buy them. I did just buy the blue- point roll cart in black with 5 drawers, a work shelf, long pry bar lockable box, deep top compartment and rubber top mat. Made in China. I still love it though. I do go out of my way to buy American Iron.

Armstrong, Williams, Wright, SK, Proto

Armstrong, Williams, Wright, Sk, Proto - these five can usually be counted upon to have made-in-USA stock. There are some exceptions that I know of:

- Williams does import some stuff from Taiwan. Socket sets and wrenches are still made in the USA as far as I know.

- Wright has gone to Taiwanese boxes, but their socket sets are still made in the USA.

- SK is generally made in the USA. There are some big exceptions in screwdrivers, where some of their line came from FACOM in France. Good tools, though.

Mr. Ford351W, what is that vehicle in your avatar picture? I'm guessing maybe an MG-A coupe?

Good luck,
