I cannot get my driver side door open on my f-250 powerstroke with power locks and power windows. The lock isn't working right and isn't allowing me to open the door at all. I cannot unlock it with the key or open it from the outside or inside and cant get the side panel off with the door closed. what can i do to get my door open?
I've done this before when the keys got locked in the truck, don't ask
There may be other ways but it worked....
You can pop the lock cylinder out of the door form the outside. Look between the door
gap at the rear of the door and pillar, there is metal tab that holds the lock cylinder in
place. Pulling that tab toward the rear the lock cylinder will come out of the door. You
may need to pry the door open a bit, use tape on the painted edges of both the door
and pillar. Try not to use metal, get some hard nylon or wood to pry it open.
You can use anything with a hook on the end to pull the tab...like a cotter pin puller. I've even used a knife.
After the lock cylinder is off to the side you can reach inside the door and force the
latch open with a tool long enough to reach it.
Not quite, the door wont open from the inside handle, the outside key wont pop the locks and the outside button wont open it. The passenger side door is crushed in from an accident and cant be opened. The only way we get in and out of his truck is through the window...nascar style. Kind of a pain. Hope this clears things up for you kyle.
