I saw an adapter kit on the internet for around $450. But where is the fun in that? Isn't it more fun to crank up our imagination and fabricate parts ourselves? ( Besides, I have a severe flaw that when someone tells me I CAN'T do something, I'll try like heck to prove them wrong ) Ok, time to quit thinking. I just heard my last brain cell pop!
Yeah!!! What he said... I guess that's why I have two lathes and a milling machine not to mention bunch of other equipment. Seroiusly speaking, the most assured way of my accomplishing something is to be told I can't do it. My probability of success is exponentially proportiomal to the amount of negativity I am exposed to. BTW, that is not a flaw you have.
I have the tranny adapter photographed and ready for posting. Think I should write how it was accomplished and goes together too? Also, I have $45 invested in the adapter for round steel stock, allen head screws, primer, and paint. The sheet steel I had lying around. Far cheaper than the $450 I saw for a kit. Now I have $400 for other things!!

We'll be waiting for the pictures and the write up.
Hey Fifty4F-100. Perfect timing! I planned to take pics and write a bit about adapting the 700R-4 to the Ford this weekend. I will be taking it apart for cleaning and painting. Will try to be as detailed as possible.
I know this thread is a few months old, but was just wondering if you ever did the write up on this? I sent you a PM as well.
I am considering putting a 700r4 behind my cleveland. I have been in talks with a gentleman who makes a complete kit that seems pretty good: http://www.700r4inaford.com/
but would love to see how you did it.
It has been a very long time, but I have returned. Due to getting a job, then having a serious fall that crushed four vertabrae like you would step on a soda can, told I'd never walk again, surgery to fuse T2 through T12 vertabraes and two rods put in my back, learning how to walk again, then having to quit working, deaths in the family, my wife needing the ANS system attached to her spine replaced, and so many other little things, I have been so dang busy! I finally got my 53 F-100 out of the shed into the garage and pulled the engine. That in itself is a huge feat. While I might be slow at working on my truck, I will make progress one way or another. When the weather clears up I plan to snap a few pictures of where I'm at and then as progress is made. Best part, the wife told me to get to work on the Ford and even bought me a sand blast cabinet, hydraulic press, portable band saw, parts cleaner, and some smaller tools. Who said you can't buy love? NOT ME!!!!
