Two Questions?
Anyway, question one:
The truck has a near new mild built 390 w/C4 and has the stock type 390 headers. Stock type front suspension w/Toyota steering conversion that I just installed.
I would like to install a set of coated headers either shorty, short or long tube and change the exhaust system. I've contacted a few of the the manufacturers and dealers and all the information I seem to find are for later model Ford pickups, no one can tell me if such and such header will fit or not and I do not want to buy a set only to find they won't fit.
Does anyone know what type/make header will fit this engine/frame/suspension setup???
Question two:
I'm considering moving the stock fuel tank from behind the seat to under the frame. How difficult would this be and what type of tank?? Where is the ideal location for the fuel filler?
The paint on this truck is in great condition and I have about a quart of the original paint so removing the tank and filler won't be a big problem.
The seats, headliner, door and kick panels are off the truck now being reupholstered...The shade of dark brown the original owner/builder used just does not compliment the Viper Yellow type color of the truck
Sanderson makes the headers you are talking about:
The Sanderson FF427 header set is designed to fit 1953-Up Ford F100 pickups using the Ford 332-428 FE engines.
I don't have time to look it up right now, but there are articles here on FTE on the between the frame, rear gas tank swap. I think it uses an early mustang tank, and I know you put a gas cap in the bed wood. Do a search, and I'm sure you'll find it pretty quick.
Edit: OK, I had to look it up:
