I have a 66 f100 with a 300. I just got a 78 with a 300 as a donor truck for free so I want to take full advantage of it. The 78 has electronic ignition. I want to put the electronic ignition in the 66. I'm guessing I will need the brain box & distributor from the 78. Anybody know what kind of modifications I will need to do to the 66 wiring harness & what other parts I will need from the 78 to do this ignition swap. I've worked on Chevys my whole life & this is my first Ford wiring adventure. Any help or comments will be much apreciated. Thanks!
You may want to post this question in the electrical forum. I have asked a few questions there and they have been very helpful. Not sure if you would need most of the wiring from 78 truck or not. I had a 66 one time and if I recall right there wasn't much of a wiring harness inside the engine compartment. Good luck and hope it works out for you.
from the 78's brainbox, you'll see a red w/white and a white w/red and a red wire grouping going to a small oval plug about 7 or 8 inches away. That's what goes to your ignition inside the cab.

If you decide to get a new distributor, consider our D.U.I.-Davis Unified Ignition or our custom curved Duraspark distributor. Please see them at:
