Thanks for the replies. I have loved Ford's as far as I can remember. My father was a ford guy owning a Mustang, Maverick, and Lord knows what else. For a time though, I got away from Ford as the quality went downhill. Being in the Air Force for twenty years and moving around overseas, my wife and I finally went back to Fords with the introduction of the Windstar which was very reliable until around 70k miles. It seemed that quality wasn't there any longer. Upon returning from a deployment my wife went and traded it in on a PT Cruiser which I must confess, is great. In 2002, she told me to get rid of the 1973 MG Midget I was driving and get a new truck. She wasn't too happy when I drove up with my 1953 Ford F-100. I told her it WAS a NEW truck to me. This is where I can't type her exact words to me!!!! Figured that getting something older than me (barely) should be easy to work on and somewhat reliable. I was right as being a daily driver it didn't give me any trouble other than minor maintenance and fixes until last month when the wire harness decided to catch fire. But no complaints as I have her torn down to almost nothing so I can take care of things I have been wanting to address and as money permits, rebuild her back into a daily driver.
Hey Fifty4F-100. Perfect timing! I planned to take pics and write a bit about adapting the 700R-4 to the Ford this weekend. I will be taking it apart for cleaning and painting. Will try to be as detailed as possible.
Welcome and hurry up with your posts so you can get to the magic # of 25. When you do a whole new world of features will become available to you, kinda like Xmas.

So here's my part to get it to 25. I like Christmas! Plus I don't mind keeping it on page 1.
Hi Rick,
Welcome to another Darksider. Our legions are growing exponentially and soon we will be masters of universe with complete freedom to modify anything we want. Oh the power....
On a more serious note, lets get those posts racked up so you can get to the magic 25 number. Just reply to everyone's post on your thread and while your at it make a few posts to let us know of any other mods you have in mind. I'm sure you must have some questions about things and this is the place to ask them. Also you should go to your profile and update it by adding your location. That way it will show on the header of your posts and we will will know where you are. That really helps when you are looking for parts or have some to trade or get rid of. Who knows, you might be living close to another member.
OK, now the good stuff... Maybe I'm leading a sheltered life or I don't get out much but I don't recall hearing a lot about mating a 302 SBF to a GM 700R4. Is there some adapter made for that and if not did you make your own? It just seems like a strange combination to me. Of course having it laying around is a strong motive for doing it. Oh well, at least the tranny will be hidden and no one will know but you. I would be interested in knowing how it performs. I assume you haven't had a chance to thry it out yet.
I saw an adapter kit on the internet for around $450. But where is the fun in that? Isn't it more fun to crank up our imagination and fabricate parts ourselves? ( Besides, I have a severe flaw that when someone tells me I CAN'T do something, I'll try like heck to prove them wrong ) Ok, time to quit thinking. I just heard my last brain cell pop!
I am a little late, story of my life, but Welcome anyway. Gotta love that dark stuff..... I also am a big fan of if I have it and can adapt it why buy the "correct" part..... rodding is so much fun :-)
So when he gets to 25 posts does he get money from Bill Gates just like the emails say?????
