I am having problems with my online environmental science. The teacher put VERY general guidelines for our first paper and I "thought" I wrote what she wanted. No, I got a 70 on that paper. She doesn't want to meet with me, and says I just need to fallow her criteria better. Says it is early in the semester. exuses blahhh. whatever....I would if she'd give me any. I thought that was a great paper, others did to. I'm furious. I need this class to graduate. I'm better than a "C" I will NEVER take an online class again. I spend 95% of my free time on the class and I'm borderline failing it.This sucks.
I don't know what to do???
Thanks,
Dustin

Dustin,
Ask her 'point blank'. . . "What is it that isn't following your guidelines?"
"What is it that you are looking for?"
"I submitted what I thought was within your guidelines. Please be more specific. I don't want to fail this class. Thank you for your help."
Put this back 'in his/her lap'. Convey to this professor that you are trying to submit what they are asking for, but, it isn't clearly defined as to what they want!
Ask her in the context of moving forward. "I don't want to make the same mistake again" You've got most of the semester ahead of you so focus on the corrective action you can take that will yield better results ahead. Nothing wrong with being dissatisfied with your grade (and letting her know it) but be careful you don't infer that this is her fault. She can pick up on that pretty easy I assume. Otherwise you get on the wrong side of her and it will be a very long semester with little to show for it.
Keep track of everything you do and document anything and everything. Teachers/Professors kinda try to portray themselves as a God like figure. Its not good, and they themselves should be placed under strict scrutiny for telling a student negative comments and providing no assistance to them for what they want in a class. Thats just my observation. I had gone through somthing like this. Its not fun for anyone. Don't let this teacher abuse her discretion as a worker for an instituition.
