Some are good, some are bad. The main thing is to make sure they are accredited by a reputable organization. Check with headhunters and people in the profession to see if they have heard of the school and what kind of reputation it has. You don't want to work your tail off getting a degree that is worthless.

Online degrees are on the level and more colleges are offering them.

The main thing you need to remember is it will take disipline on your part to do the work. If you are easily distracted then self study online degrees may not be for you.

Depends on what you are calling an 'online college'.

My local community college, and university both offer online courses. Of course those are 'up and up' they are the same as traditional classes.

But those 'schools' like Phoenix University and such having varying reputations. But trying to explain them in an interview may be very difficult.

Try this link , they have some forums worth browsing. As said above, accreditation is the first thing to learn about. By whom, and for how long. Some are merely diploma mills.

What field, and where. Is anyone going to even look at whether it's from an Ivy league school or an online U.

One thing you can do is to use an accredited online U for classes that will transfer to a "brick and mortar" school. But again, check with the school you're aiming for.

Good luck. I'm wrestling with deciding whether get a MFT Masters online while I'm at home with my kid.

I love mine (Strayer U.) I believe the curriculum is getting better as time goes on, too. Obviously, online tests are going to be open book, but some of mine have been very tough. At least I come away from the test knowing that I earned my grades. Online schooling is terrific for those of us who just don't have the time to get to the classroom.

I have been looking into Saint Leo University. Things there look real, I have emailed them and got an email back with more information. I need to ask them if they are a accrediated school is that what I need to ask? What other things should I ask to be sure I dont getting screwed into something bad?

Try the link I gave you for www.degreeinfo.com . There is a forum which covers what to look for in an accredited school.
