Question correspondence schooling

Has anyone here taken any courses from any of the "mail order" schools that advertise in the mail or in magazines, etc.? They seem good and legit but I'm a little skeptical about stuff that comes with the "junl mail". Please give me the good, bad, and ugly. Thanks in advance.

I've never taken one, either, but I do know that if I order today, I will get a free pair of X-ray glasses!! J/K. I've known people that have had some success with them. I don't think I'd go to a dentist that took all his classes this way, though...

Why don't you think about online courses? I'm taking them now, and they are the most convenient method for me, with my crazy job hours. Whatever method you choose, though, get going. I waited until I had almost 17 years in the navy before getting back to college. Wish I had never stopped!!

Wow! I better get my application in and get those X-ray glasses on their way!

Seriously, I should have added, I'm interested in a course which would be more for my own interest... maybe a trade or something. I don't think I'll try for my doctorate! LOL! I thought these might be better than online since you get a lot of texts and materials that are nice for future reference, plus I don't have high-speed. My wife has taken online university classes and didn't like it too much.
Both of the schools I've looked at have been around a while and are accredited with Better Business Bureau. Guess I'll just have to wait and see if someone has got any real experience with the "X-ray" schools!

I took an "open learning" class at the local CC, since there's no required class time, you have to have the drive to do it.
