It's a 460, not a 429.

7L14 = engine block casting date: November (L) 14, 1977 (7). Used in 1978 or early 1979 vehicles.

DIVE-6015-A2B .. Bare Block Casting Number for a 1974/midyear 1979 460 engine.

Original DIVE-6015-AB & second casting D1VE-6015-AB1 = Bare block casting numbers for either a 1971/73 429 or 460 engine.

The cars/trucks used the same block, so the engine is from a 1978/79 F100/350, Econoline, or a 1978 passenger car (LTD, Merc Marquis, Lincoln Town Car or Mark V).

1979 cars didn't come with 460's.

What 4V carb is on the engine? Motorcraft 4300 or a Holley 4V? Cars used the Motorcraft carb, F100/350's and Econolines used the Holley carb.

The block was cast in 1977, there were no 429 engines after 1973.

You can build it to OEM specs and get 220 or so hp, or you can pour wads of $100 bills into it and get 600 hp.

Mo' money, mo' power.

what kinda horse powere can i get with the late 60s early 70s block. i dont want to spend a million but 220 hp out of a big block seems point less to have one. my 292 came from the factory with just under 200 hp and im sure it wouldnt take much to get it over 220 hp. and it thought in 73 they stopped putting 429s in cars but they still made them for trucks

OK, look at what they do for 580 hp. Heads, cam, intake, 10:1 compression etc. The give specifics including part number for the cam, heads & type of manifold.

Ford Racing Performance Parts [Crate Engines]

Here is another example of cam, carb, headers and some valve train fiddling on a low compression engine--433 hp

This site will keep you busy till spring:

Engine FAQ - 460 Ford Forum

Low budget: Intake, 750 cfm 4v, headers. My wag is 300+ hp territory. Add the cam, into near 400+

Your 292 had decent gas to operate with and FYI, todays engine are not flywheel rated running no accessories like the engines of the 50s and 60s were. That is not the case of today's engines and gas. If the motor is a 360, you are wasting your money looking to hop it up. Put a 390 crank and rods in it and 300 to 350 hp is an easy and inexpensive mark to reach. The short stroke handicaps the 360 too much plus the 7.5 :1 compression ratio means no real power whatever you do. 460 after 1972 has in the 220 hp range and it is 100 cid bigger than your engine.
