Installed a resitor in my idm to make it 140 volt. Truck runs so much better. My question to other guys that have done this has your fuel milage dropped down? Mine has. For some years i have kept records.Have driven the same routes on c c @ the same speed i have noticed a 2.4 mpg drop. Has anyone else found this too? Would really like to know. Friskejake
1st of all, Welcome to the site, this is a great site and a great place to learn all about our trucks.
I am interested in doing this mod, but concerned about your mileage loss. When did you do this mod and how many tanks of fuel have you checked mileage on? I am hoping that you just did the mod and naturally in your testing & evaluating were just a little heaver on the go peddle than usual, and that's the reason for a 2 mpg drop.
Sorry i forgot to mention i,m a snowbird in south east calif. no winter fuel here. Have been driving between el centro calif and yuma az, 60 miles and very flat @63 mph on cc.1700 rpms. Empty truck. Stock tires. Fuel milage has dropped 2-3 mpgs. THANKS guys. Friskyjake

Pretty sure that winterized fuel is everywhere, not just in the cold climates. So the MPG drop might still be the fuel. You may even see a difference in fuels from one station to another.
