IIRC the GPR109 is basically what is in there now. I went to the GPR110 because it was available. Next time, I think I'll go with the Stancor unit.
After replacing my old unit and all eight glow plugs, I've noticed a much better running engine. Warmup is quicker, too.
I do hear my GPR click, but I wouldn't call it a "buzzing" noise. Remember, depending on engine temp, the GPR can stay active for up to two minutes. The stock gauge shows a draw until the GPR shuts off.
110 is what NAPA tries to sell, but i asked for a 109 instead. saved me 60 bucks and the only apparent difference is the orientation of the posts.
i hear a click then it buzzes for ~90 seconds then the voltage gage jumps back up. after a full cycle it started without being plugged in all night for the first time in a while, so it seems like it is working better, but i just don't recall if my last one buzzed the whole time it was "on".
If its buzzing its usually from low voltage. It should give a good solid click when the key is first turned and then another when it shuts off. You might have your batteries tested to see how they look. If they are low then new batteries will greatly aid your cold starting.
brand new batteries and 12v across gpr. i get a good click when it turns on and a little click when it turns off. so i am gathering the buzz is uncommon...
