Starts good when cold but backfires and wont start when warm.
Drags the battery down and backfires.
But when its cold it barley turns over and it goes?
Any ideas?
I just aquired this truck so i dont know all its quirks yet.
Its seems to start when cold.
Let it warm up for awhile and it wont start again after its shut off.
Leave it overnight and it starts.
Not very good if you go to the store , you have to stay overnight.
This is why he suggested to check your timing. Unless you check yourself, how do you know it hasn't jumped time? Only step-by-step, objective diagnosis will pinpoint your problem. Check the timing as n9lhm suggested. Backfiring when warm often indicates a timing issue. The fact that the starter is dragging makes me think this even more. Engines are much more tolerant of advanced timing when cold, which could explain why it doesn't happen when it has sat overnight. If you check your timing and it's set to spec, that's great, then we can move on and check other things. The key is not to assume something is okay until you've seen the results with your own eyes. I'm not saying it has jumped time, I'm saying it sounds like it could have, and you need to check before moving on. Otherwise you're chasing your tail
