i think i can trade my 88 for a 78... i'd sacrifice some mpg's. but i was wondering if anyone had an opinion on the sixth generation compared to the eighth.. i'd be going from a I6 300 to a v8 302... i just want something that is easier for me to work on myself..

Everyone has an opinion. Here's mine. I think the 78 is better looking. The inline six is a good engine and so is the 302. Both are easy to work on however an 88 will have a few more items to remove if you had to get to the nitty gritty. (fuel injection, emmissions, etc.)
As for the rest of the truck well there just not that complex.
My opinion would favor the v-8 though. I just love the sound of good v-8.
