Fuel Filter Light

I have had this problem now for 5 months now and running out of money. The problem is that the fuel filter light comes on when you rev it up around 2500 to 3000 rpms, also when you take off from a stop about half or more throttle. It will stall out like it is running out of fuel.

The fuel filter has been changed several times, the lift pump (AKA fuel pump) has been changed, the fuel pressure reg. that sits on the side of the housing (if thats what it is called) has been changed and the fuel lines thats surounds it.

Thanks
Bobby Smith

Have you checked and cleaned the fuel return screen in the fuel bowl. Take a Qtip and remove the cotton and gently scrape the crud off the screen. Just a WAG. Could also be a bad lift pump even though u changed it.

Yes, this is the second lift pump, and the fuel return screen was replaced with the new fuel pressure reg.

Has anyone heard of a fuel line collapsing, on the supply side?

What is the level on the fuel gage? Could be a piece of the fuel pickup tube broken off and lift pump cannot pickup fuel. Just a thought.

Not that this is a common problem, but there are pickup screens at the pickups in each tank. Mind you, I don't think that would set off the filter light.....
Never heard of a supply line collapsing before. Those pumps don't really have that jam for that unless it's in the short rubber portions. Also, a leaky fuel line will draw in air and cause all sorts of problems. I could see that maybe giving the light.

Looks like the fuel tanks are coming down, just to check that off the list.

Thanks

Still having the same problem, should there be pressure in the bleader valve when the motor is shut down? Truck runs great other then that. It will shut after the light is on like it is running out of fuel. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did you drop the tanks and look at the pick-up tube filter sock for damage
or garbage floating around in the tank that could possibly block the supply
of fuel?
Does this happen with both fuel tanks?
Are you sure both tanks are feeding the engine?

The fuel filter light is turned on the by the 1 wire sensor on the very top of
the FPR. Looks like an oil pressure sensor..I but it's a actually vacuum
sensor and tells you when the fuel filter housing has higher than normal
vacuum ie. dirty filter or if there is some other type of restriction in the
fuel supply.

Since you have replaced/cleaned just about everything IMO, You should
blow out all the fuel lines to see if there is something that is blocking off
the flow of fuel to the engine. Try to capture the fuel blown out to see if
something shows up. Work from the engine backwards. hope you find it
before you have to pull the tanks again. Might be in the pick-up tubes in
the tank(s).

Here's a fuel flow diagram. The fuel tank selector valve is not show but
you should be able to figure it out.

Acting up with Both tanks would make me think you trouble is after the tank selector valve....or the selector valve itself. Remove it from the frame rail and give it a good cleaning too.
It may take a while to get going again but shouldn't be too bad. Keep the batteries charged.
