Power Hungry Performance
I must clarify some things, however, so that nobody is confused.
1 - When we owned Diesel Power, Jody purchased our DP Tuner tuning software almost a full year after I tuned his 7.3L. Luckily, we keep really good records, so we know that I tuned Jody's truck (with an 80hp calibration) for the first time on May 29, 2003. There were shifting issues with that calibration, and I tried a few times to tweak it long distance. Jody came over to our house on July 19, 2003 so that I could live tune his truck. Obviously, that was long before Jody started tuning and DP-Tuner was created. In fact, we still have the invoice showing that Jody purchased our DP Tuner software, all of my stock Ford calibrations, all then current Ford Power Stroke calibrations, all then current RDT Ford Power Stroke RDT files, and 2 Romulator adapters on May 5, 2004.
2- As an authorized reseller for both the PCMX and the subsequent DP Tuner Software, I sold TS Performance a fully licensed version of the software on May 6, 2003, and THAT is when their licensed copy became known as TS Performance Software.
3 - Diane is absolutely right about the fact that Kevin wrote the software. What has not been made clear, however, is that at my request, Kevin built us a private-labeled version called DP Tuner which was initially released on January 27, 2004. This software superceded PCMX, which is what we had been reselling up to that point. He is the one who added our company information, software name (DP Tuner, I came up with) and the Diesel Power logo into the software. We were -- and still are -- authorized to distribute it to anyone we choose, and we pay him a license fee for every copy. For those who own a copy of DP Tuner Software, the logo is displayed by pressing ALT+F12.
4 - We have recently become aware that Jody chose to copyright the name DP Tuner, which is why we always make sure to differentiate DP Tuner Software from DP Tuner (the company). That's no different than, say, the company named "Mustang," which makes dynos and the car named "Mustang." One is a company name; one is a product name. Since 2004, we have used the name DP Tuner with and without the hyphen interchangeably. After we became aware of your trademark, we have tried only to use DP Tuner Software without the hyphen (out of respect to DP-Tuner's website name which bears the hyphen) and have always added the word "Software" after it in order to differentiate between the two. There's never any question that we are referencing our software.
If there is still any question as to the origin of the DP Tuner name with regard to our tuning software or our authorization to resell it, we will graciously provide any documentation requested.
Note to Moderators:
This thread is titled Power Hungry Performance. Diane chose to jump in and post some wrong information about us and our company. Our post is in response to this misinformation. Everything we posted is objective and everything can be documented -- we have every e-mail and every invoice; we will be happy to provide this information to validate all statements in this post if you'd like. Feel free to give us a shout if you have any questions.
We had a blast! This year we're planning on dressing as EXTREMELY over-the-top sterotypical tourists.
As for our post, we were simply stating facts in response to another post that claimed that we were doing something wrong -- illegal, perhaps -- by distributing our licensed tuning software and using the name DP Tuner Software. It definitely wasn't intended to come across as aggressive. In fact, when we wrote it, we must've re-read it a dozen times over a period of about two hours to make sure that every sentence was objective and absent of emotion to ensure that our post wasn't the least bit subjective -- or hostile.

Have a wonderful weekend!
Bill's been live tuning since the late 90s, and we may actually have something going in PA (Lancaster area) for a live tuning event this year! For more information about our live tuning, you can check out this link. Please feel free to ask questions if you have any. We'll be happy to help if we can!
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
I can't speak specifically about prices in this part of the form chj, but yes, that price includes custom tuning for mild modifications including Oversized Intercoolers, Exhaust Brakes, Downpipes, Full Return Fuel System Mods, Turbo Housing Mods (for stock turbos), and Cold Air Intake Kits.
There is an additional tuning charge for Heavy Modifications like Injectors, Big Oil (dual HPOP), Large Single or Twin Turbos, Power Adders such as Nitrous, Propane, & Water/Meth Injection, and Modified Transmissions.
All Phoenix™ prices are listed here.
Please feel free to ask any questions you might have after you check our price list.
intercooler, intake, exhaust, raised fuel pressure. that basicly sums me up. so this is your custom tunes like the tw and dp-tuner's not random off the shelf tunes like ts and superchip?
and also, what rpm is the high idle set to?
Again, I can't discuss prices in this part of the forum, but the numbers you mentioned above are accurate if it takes no more than two hours to live tune your truck. There is an additional per/hour rate (it's listed in the post I told you to check out; it's directly below the minimum charge).
Travel expenses are, literally, however much it takes to get Bill to the live tuning event -- whether it be by plane or car. It is split among all the participants in the event, which is one reason that we generally don't travel to tune only one vehicle. It's just not cost effective, in most cases, for the customer. Anyway... we cover all other expenses -- lodging, food, etc., and if anyone comes along with Bill (say... me and our sons
), we cover that, too.If anyone is interested in having Bill live tune his/her truck -- Bill will probably be in PA, CA, TX, OH, UT, and FL so far this year -- please drop me an e-mail to let me know or to ask questions.
