Just as a bit of trivia, or FYI, the 52 model year trucks did not have the VIN tag on the cowl. The VIN was only found on the frame and on the glove box data tag.
VIN decoded in post #5 // It's a 1951, not a 1952 // The VIN is stamped on the left frame rail adjacent to the steering gear box. // It will prolly be hard to find and read, due to 58 years of accumulated rust, oil and grease, road grime.
That's interesting Bill - another encrypted set of numbers - like Production Codes. Wouldn't you think some one somewhere has some meaning for those?
Hey Hot Rod - check out the frame - passenger side right about where the shock mount is It's stamped in the frame. If yo need that in Germany, best to find it now.
Hot Rod, which Country did you get your Truck in? Reason I ask is that quite a few people have updated Trucks to the Deluxe version for a regular one.
A locking Glove Box Door, is one, along with Hood Trim, Both Door Locks, Cigar Lighter, Dual Horns, etc.
In Canada there was a V.I.N. Tag on the Center of the Fire Wall, at top under the hood. This had most info as Trim, Body Code, V.I.N., Paint, etc.
The top of Frame Rail right around the steering box is where you will find the correct V.I.N. for your Truck.
All the other ones as far as the Cab goes could easily have been changed.
Canada started the under Hood Data Plate in 1946 on the Ford Vehicles. I am not sure when the U.S. did but I believe it was around 1951.
So check the Frame, that would be your best bet.

Very good to know----again! Must be true then huh?
You seem to have a lot of info on the 1951 F1 Pickup... I just got one today and am trying to find out as much as I can but having a hard time. VIN is F1R1DL 13272. Can you help? I would really appreciate it!
Wow this is an old post. You want info on your truck, check out my galleries - tons. (skip gallery 1-3 those are just for forum posting)
Ok:
F1 = 1/2 ton Pick-up
R = 239 Flathead V8
1 = 1950
DL = Dallas Texas assembly plant
And the numbers are the serial number (starting at 10000 - so 10001 is the first truck)
Thanks, for the info Julie. I'm a little confused thou. My hood and grill are '51s according to the year i.d. pictures I,ve seen. It also has the padded door panels and carpet on the kick panels and below the rear window in the cab. Is this the five star cab option?
I have a 1951 ford f1 chassis f1r1sbx10000, I would ask what the nameplate on the door that goes glove, know that there are two models, and also if you could decipher in detail the number of chassis

Your post will get more attention if you start a new one. Also, don't foget to briefly introduce yourself.
F1 - 1/2 ton
R - 239 cid, 8 cyl. 1 - 1951 SB - assembly plant code, but doesn't exist (could be SP?? for St. Paul, Minn.) X - no such character in the sequence (could be a star??) 10000 - production sequence
Here is a pic of a 5 Star F-1 that I once owned it was all correct, with exception to the rear view mirror, wrong color.
Hope this will help you I.D. your Truck.
Just a pic here to show you the V.I.N. Tag on the top center of the Firewall.
This is on a 1950 Mercury, and the CDN Trucks, & Cars started this in 1946.
51 Panel Man I have had all the years of Flathead Trucks from 1937-1953 with exception of 1940-44. There was a mixture of both U.S., & CDN. built.
The 51 in the above pic was U.S. the one in front you can only see the Tail Light was a 52, and I sold a 53 Deluxe Panel last Dec. CDN. built with Factory O/D, all matching numbers it was used as a School Bus in Alberta, and there were no windows cut in the side panels. Anyway both the 52 & 53 had the Cowl Tags. These gave the V.I.N. number, paint code, trim, color, etc.
