Judging by how unpopular these motors are and the economy what are these worth right now? Found an 06 30000 4x4 crew cab xlt f350 asking 26000. Oh and what exacly are all the differences between the 250 and 350?
What ever gave you the idea that this motor was unpopular? As your drinking your morning coffee today their making 6.0 motors, they can't be too unpopular they built over 2.5 million 6.0

Yeah, and Ford has had to fix 2.4 million of them!

Your right, they screwed mine up big time. 110,000 miles so far and number 8 injector replaced at 92,000 Go over to the Cummins, and Duramax forums and see how great their engines are. They go through injectors like gas motors go through sparkplugs.
05 F350 6.0L PS SB DRW 4X4 85,000 miles mostly highway, Rotella oil/filter changes at 5,000 mi and PowerService(white) in the fuel otherwise religiously followed Fords regular published maintenance routine.
Problems to date: 1). Steering loose and front tires worn bald at 20,000-cause all ball joints and steering gear box worn out from highway driving, dealer stated that ball joints (sealed units) were never originally greased right from the factory, steering gear box failure was never diagnosed; 2). 80,000 problem with tranfer case stuck in 4WD L - cause defective relay- manufacturing defect in relay was a intermittant problem when the truck was new then finally failed completly; 3). 85,000 cold ( -5 F) start problem and idle rough and smoke in cold weather warrenty issue with old defective FICM Flash TSB 07-5-4, still trying to get Ford to update Flash under warrenty.
As you can see the problems have originated in Fords quality control issues with their parts vendors and internal quality control issues during manfacturing and warrenty follow up after the sale! I still remember the days when Fords mission was openly stated as "Quality is Job 1" . The auto industry today.... never mind customer satisfaction just ask congress for a multi million $$ bail out.
2005 currently has 65k. At 30k had an injector seal fail, stranding me with 5th wheel on the interstate. At 35k had egr cooler fail. At 59k had ficm fail, stranding me again. All covered under warranty. Also had a couple of egr valves replaced, but they probably just needed to be cleaned. Batteries, front brake pads and tires.
It has had a few problems, but i have never considered trading it. I hope to get a few more years out of it until the new diesels get sorted out.
2004 6.0 at 44,000 miles water pump gave up ,have gone through 3 EGR valves in the first 15,000 miles, small oil leak at turbo fixed at 30,000 miles, 2 sets of batteries.
2005 all stock psd, crew cab long bed, 67K miles. Regularly maintained by Ford. No mods. Replaced --- Alternator, belt, batteries, idler pulley, turbo, high pressure oil pump and snap fitting, oil cooler, de-gas bottle. All covered on warranty. She runs great now and I hope I have all the bugs worked out. Love the truck and performance but I sure don't like it when it leaves me stranded! Can't do anything about it. It is only worth about 15-16K on trade in right now in Oregon.

Hi,
These are good engines.
If you read through the blog, a lot of what you are hearing about is injector related failure due to stiction. These engines have a fuel output pressure of 26,200 PSI and an ordinary injector was around 1500 PSI. The added friction is causing oxidation and burning of engine oil which in turn leads to build-up and failure.
We have customers who have 500K plus on their 6.0's with the factory injectors still in the vehicle. They also do not suffer from the same sort of maintenance and repair issues that you will read about on here.
The secret to success with these engine's in keeping them going is using Hot Shot's Secret to keep the stiction issue from destroying the injectors and thus degrading the whole engine's performance.
One 64 oz treatment with Hot Shot's Secret will clean the buildup and help restore the engine to original performance. A half treatment can then be added as part of an oil change to keep this problem from rearing its head in the future.
This product was developed independently for International and tested by them for this issue. It was given a thumbs up. It also has a 100% guarantee.
Furthermore we offer the Blue Diamond product, which is a FULL synthetic oil (not a blend) and a huge bypass filter that will insure the oil is at peak capability and not breaking down and oxidizing at the injector.
Right now, to combat a lot of the winter issues people are having, we are offering Hot Shot's Secret, Fire Power 404 (fuel injector/ fuel system cleaner) and NT Oil Additive (transmission) all for one price...with free shipping thru January 31st!!

I hope this info helps...and good luck with your purchase of a 6.0

I think they screwed mine up so bad I will keep it well into my retirement.
Sounds like im either going to get a truck or a dud. What happens when you mod them. I was thinking exhuast, intake, SCT, maybe when turbo goes out diff one and injectors. And when replacing nothing serious just something that offers a little more performance and reliability at the same time?
Lots of problem associated with mods... just read the forum and you will see.
If you mod, you need to be wise about it. If you go into modding seriously (gauges, coolant filter, ccv re-route, studs, EGR cooler and valve delete, custom tuner) you can actually improve on reliability.
