Hello to all,
Newbie to diesel and truck so patience please,
I bought a 96 F250 (4x4 manual) turbo diesel ,power stroke,5 speed last week, drove it 100 miles home no problems, yesterday drove around town no problem.
This morning the clutch does not engage in all the gears. I put it in 4x4 mode clutch works fine and I can go through all the gears(front wheels free).
Any input is apperciated, and hopefully soon I can contribute to the forum.
Are you having trouble getting your truck in the next gear when shifting or will it not move at all unless you are in 4wd? I'm having a hard time pinpointing the exact problem. I'd be happy to help if given a little more info.
So the truck moves in 4H and 4L, but not 2H? Then it's not a tranny or clutch problem, since they're both "upstream" of the transfer case. Either your transfer case isn't engaging the rear driveshaft, or the rear driveshaft is broken, or the rear diffy is hosed. Observe under the truck while an assistant attempts to drive it. Do you see the rear driveshaft turning?
