low blower speed doesn't work

I have a 2006 F150 and my blower doesn't work on the #1 setting. Usually if the resistor goes out doesn't it blow at high speed? i have speeds 2-4. i tried a new switch but it still doesn't work. Is my next step a new resistor or am i missing something?

Usually if the resistor is blown the blower will only work on high speed.
(no resistance). depending on how the resistor is set up it is possible that only the low speed does not function.

i just pulled out the resistor and it looks like a big microchip. the only speed that worked with it unplugged was high. i know that the #1 setting blew air before. is there a way to check that kind of resistor?

yes check the resistance of the resistor lol

4 pins correct?

top
1 2 3 4
top being that is where the clip is the bottom is flat
resistance of 4 & 2 2.0-2.6 ohms
" - " 2 & 3 .2-.4
" - " 2 & 1 .8-1.1 ohms

if they are not in spec the risistor is bad.
if they are you have a blower switch or wiring issue
