Is it me or does all fords do this when they are cold i'm talking 0 degrees or below? its about -40 right now and started it after 2 days of not being started and howled for awhile..
thats perfectly normal, its because the fluids not moving like it should, ive noticed that every ford ive owned or worked on does it, and every gm product ive own makes a squealing noise due to the same thing. in fact i just started up my taurus a few minutes ago to move it and it made the noise were talking about and yesterday night i started up my dad's 07 impala and it made a squeal like a slipping belt, but only for a few seconds. just check your fluid and make sure its topped off. if theres a leak somewhere and the fluids low it will prolong the noise when it starts up and could cause damage to the pump.
Thank god! I noticed the noise the last couple days but it only does it for a split second in my 04. But today it was -8* when i started my truck and it howled for a little bit longer but no more than 10 seconds, but its loud. Glad that someone else experienced this and its not a problem.
Yep, my son's 08 does this, mine is less pronounced though, being that it's new I told him to let them check it out anyway next week when he gets first service.
Phew.....my 08' did the same howling you guys are talking about, twice in about the first two minutes it ran this am, for less than ten seconds both times. Glad it isnt just me. It was -14 here at about 6:30am.
I will have to give it a try. Who changed the fluids for you? or did you do it your self?
I took my resivior off and flushed it out. Then flushed the pump and lines with some fluid and re filled the system. I used Amsoil ATF. I have an 05 F250, with a 5.4L, they have a remote resivior, so it was very easy to do the whole process.
