I wrapped my crossover pipes but I have nothing to compare it to since I wrapped them before I installed the turbo, so its not really helpful.
If I was going to make a suggestion, I would say have it ceramic coated since I think the wrap is a pain in the %*& to deal with. I am not sure what it costs to have is ceramic coated though......But I am cheap so I did do the wrap.
They upgraded their website a while back, most of the links go to the wrong parts.
I think calling them is the only way to get the right info.
Leave the boost up, more and cooler air in helps lower EGT's.
Higher RPM's means more air flow through the engine and lower EGT's.
Less back pressure let's more heat out and helps with faster/higher boost.
I would leave the fuel alone, you can always back out of the throttle if the EGT gets to high.
Right now you set up your signature in the "User CP" in the left end of the blue bar at the top of the page.
But we have a vBulletin upgrade that is going to happen next week if everything stays on track.
Lots of new features from what I hear at this point in time, I have seen a few screen captures of the User CP which is totally different from what it is now.
I just bought the ATS Aurora 2000 turbo system.. They say only turn up the fuel 1 flat, thats it. They say more fuel makes more heat and the waste gate is set to 8 pounds for a stock motor. Much more boost and you will need to do things like stud the heads and things like that. Another way to Knock down the heat if you want to keep things at the same setting is their system called the water boy. Yep water mist injection, look it up.. I had to look into all this stuff because my toy hauler is 38 feet long triple axle at 15000 pounds loaded up.. (thats trailer weight alone) not with the weight of the truck.
I have the same setup you have and found a cold air intake that will help lower your EGT's and give you a better throtle response. It is made by Hypermax and it mounts on the firewall just above the brake booster and draws air off the windsheild. I you join their mailing list they will give you a 10% discount, I think I paid around $65. It is an eazy installation and you will be pleased with the results.
As for the turbo, I have talked with ATS a number of times about the upgrade to the factory turbo. I have also talked with a number of people that have done it. I don't know if ATS will sell just the flange & down pipe, the kit also comes with a complete exhaust system. I am agonizing over spending the money ($860) for the kit but need to replace my exhaust before next inspection in March so I'm leaning that way. The feedback that I have recieved from the people that have done it and also tow heavy loads is you will not believe the difference. One responce I got the man also owns a 97 powerstroke and said the idi with the upgrade will run with the stroke up to about 65 mph.
Sorry for the long winded message, hope it helps,
PacaMan
i held up with a stroke till about 80, i have a non turbo 6.9 and i was loaded with fire wood, but i had it on the rev limiter in every gear. just about any idi will keep up with a stroke and an idi turbo that dont have the crushed outlet housing and downpipe will flat out smoke a powerstroke no matter what. powersrtoke=210 hp idi factory turbo=190hp idi with upgrade turbo 250-270hp, suposedly thats what they make but i know my 6.9 will keep up with any stock first gen powerstroke until they get over 80, thats when mine starts to defuel, and loose power, but they have an overdrive and i dont
