I currently have the 80eco flash on my PCM from DP. I do not have an EGT gauge. My thought is that I can monitor EGT's with the X3 from the DP website and get a couple more tunes out of the deal. I am expecting to have to buy a thermocouple because it does not come with the X3.
1) Can I monitor EGT's in real time off of this module?
2) Is this sufficient? This truck is primarily a daily driver.

It says you can but it would save you alot of space and hassle if just bought a gauge kit from ITP or Diesel Manor. I seen somewhere you could get a full set of Di Optixs for 350 shipped.
The description reads that you can monitor 5v source. I can purchase a 5v thermocouple and plug the EGT feed into the x-3? Is that what is meant by the product description?
That's kind of what it sounds like, if I understand you correctly. The EGT probe is just a thermocouple, so if that's the standard, then it should work. BUT, why go through all that if you can just get a regular gauge? It's an important enough of a measurement on a tuned truck to have it visible full-time.
I plan on getting that multi-gauge Terminator is selling, but I'm still keeping my Tranny, Boost, & EGT gauges since they need to be watched full-time. And I prefer analog gauges for those.
I use the Aeroforce Scangauge, with the upper display showing EGT's (you need to buy the thermocouple and the amplifier to ramp it up to the 5V level the analog input requires) and the bottom display cycling between the various temp readings. I imagine the X3 would work similarly and let you display the EGT's constantly; probably only cost you the price of the thermocouple and the amplifier. I would recommend sourcing that from the place that sells the X3. I find the digital gauge is fine, especially with the Scangauge annunciator feature, which flashes a red LED whenever the EGT hits 1251ºF or higher. Which my truck does flash to, even in the 80E setting.
