Bought this truck used and it looks like it's been sitting in a lot under a sprinkler for a couple years. The picture below doesn't do the severity of the spots justice. I had the same spots on mirror to a lesser degree and the only that worked was gun polish. I tried buffing it out by hand with Maguires and Turtle Wax to no avail. The spots are even embedded in the windows. Any suggestions?
Steel wool the windows with 000 wool, water or window cleaner as a lubricant helps. DO not hit any painted surfaces, and your windows will be as good as new.
For your paint, invest in a clay bar, (body clay) kit, and rub away the spots and contamination. Follow the directions, and do small areas.
All of my rides get stained, and abused with mud and all sorts of stuff. Clay bar, brings the paint back to a smooth and clean surface. Wax afterwords and you will be amazed.
Good ole acid rain spots. I have fought these for years in the bodyshop. In addition to the great idea posted above, I've always buffed these spots out, if you have no experience with buffing or don't have the tools, you could prolly pay a shop to do this.
Just my 2 cents. Thanks
Man, I forgot about this thread. Yes steel wool. I actually use stainless steel wool. This does not rust and I can use it over and over again.
Cleanest windows in town, and helps the wipers work more efficient.
Really it works. Again, not for stainless trim or any painted surface. This will work for regular chrome surfaces too. (not polished stainless)
Any clay bar will work. You do not need much, regardless of whether or not you have to do the whole truck. This clay bar is designed to be used over and over again.
Just cant work it when it is dry. The lubrication is the key to success. Once the clay is contaminated, it must be replaced. If you drop it on the ground, it will be ruined and you can rub dirt around, and this will damage the paint. There is a little technique involved, but easy to pick up.
Cleaner wax after you rub the clay, and then a sealer wax and you will have a pro look without swirls. Really, this is easy. Time consuming, but pretty easy.
