HELP I Need a GOOD Wax
So wife got me some Turtle wax and that stuff SUCKS.
So then I tried some Meguiars Cleaner/Wax and that seamed to do alot Better Its getting rid of the rust pinhead spots and made a Big Diffrence. The only problem is Im going to have to do it several Times using it.
So I was wondering if there is something Better out there???
What about those Clay Bars or whatever they are???do they work??/
I have a Buffer/Polisher I have been using so Im ok that way.
But if there is Any MAGIC POTION out there I would love to try it
you want to get a nice lubricant to use it effectively, like mothers type product sorry forgot the name.
it works by pulling particulates out of your clearcoat without scratching it...you will see it turn black when you use it.
and thanks for the help you have given me in the past.

Will the Lubricant specify to use with the Clay Bar??
got the Oil Pan and front axel and other stuff in that area Painted with undercoating
I did try just Flat Black paint on the underbody and that stuff was gone after 1 winter It did Look Great for a few after I did it just didnt last the rubberized paint is the Way to Go
I really thought about just getting it Painted but I came across this Meguiars Cleaner/Wax and it worked great in the One spot I tried by hand awhile back. I thought it would go better once I broke the Buffer out But I can see Im going to have to go over it atleast 3 times. This white Truck shows everything.
Id rather spend the Money on Studs and a Tunes over a paint job

first, anything from house of turtle, give it to someone with a dodge you
don't like very much. they can detail the cummings with it.
meguiars sells a clay bar kit. it comes with lube and a clay bar.
wash the vehicle WELL to get all the surface crud off it. some meguiars
car wash, on a mitt works well with a garden hose.... wet a panel down,
scrub it with the soapy mitt, rinse off.
when it's clean, squirt some lube on a panel, and use the clay bar to
remove all the damaged paint and crud off the finish. when it's clean,
you can feel it... at first it's scratchy, and then it goes -whoosh-...
move on to the next section, turning and folding the clay to keep a
fresh surface against the paint.
if you drop the clay on the ground, throw it away and get another bar.
if it gets dirt in it, you will destroy your paint. if you've never clayed
the vehicle before, you will need two or three clay bar kits.
when it's clean, from the clay, give it a quick wash with the mitt again.
now, you are ready for wax..... as for buffing the finish, unless you
are really good with a buffer, you'll put swirls galore into the paint.
you can use a foam pad, and that will give far better and safer results.
but the clay should remove almost all of the overspray and dead paint,
and a good waxing should get you to happiness.
the best buffer i've seen is a toss up between a festool R0-90 sander
with a foam pad, and a cyclo dual pad dual action buffer. i have both.
Cyclo Polishers
about $325... has 2 dual action foam pads that go opposite directions.
you can't burn or damage paint with it.
the festool sander has a sanding mode that is best compared to a
blanchard grinder. it's pretty amazing on woodworking, and with a
polishing pad, i've sanded out a $6,000 dining room table with
4,000 grit foam pads, till you could read a 1" letter E written on
a post it note stuck to the ceiling above the tabletop. and that is a
finish pretty much the same as automotive paint.
the product i used after claying my van, when it was brand new,
was by a company called Never Wax Your Car Again! - 5 Star Shine
they have a funky website that comes across hokey, but the product
works, if applied according to directions.
it took one $70 kit to do my van, and i barely had enough.
but a van has a ton more sheetmetal than your truck, so you should
be good to go with one kit.
the us navy uses the product to protect AEGIS radar antennas.
it's a two part product. first you wash the vehicle with their prep
wash, following the directions. then, you apply the wax. you get
a 2 ounce or so bottle, and that is enough with the pad they give you.
buff it off, and you are done.
here's someone raving about it on the net.....
it was pretty much my experience.....
=============================
I tried it!
Since nobody so far had posted any results...
Last January I purchased the 5-Star Shine Deluxe Kit and applied it
to my 2001 Black C5 Coupe. I have always used Griot's Best of Show
Wax machine system for the previous 5 years with pretty good results,
but never found it to last very long and it attracts dust before I was even
finished polishing - so I end up using Speed Shine on it almost every day.
I was very skeptical of the 5-Star claims, but here are my results after
following their directions of washing the car twice, using their included
clay and no chamois last January:
1. I had just enough product to complete the car with one coat and then
hit the top surfaces a second time just to make sure of complete coverage.
2. Product went on easy and came off effortlessly with no residue (similar
to my past experience with Souveran Wax).
3. Just as they mentioned, the product somehow reacts with dark surfaces
in a visual way and looks kind of spotted in places within a few minutes
(on black anyway). This disappears after the first rinse.
4. I waited overnight and the next day the first thing I noticed was that
90% of my fine clear coat scratches disappeared (they are still there, but
you cannot see them). These are scratches I could not even remove with
the Griot's polishes over the last few years without reducing the clear
coat too much.
5. The next thing I noticed was the change in the "character" of the color.
Unlike wax which gives you the impression that you are looking through
a deep coat of protectant, this looks more like the actual surface has
been changed - more like a fresh paint job just polished out. Both look
good - just subtly different. Outdoors - it looked better than it did new
- really shiny - more "reflective" than "deep".
6. Then there was the real surprise. The next day when I went out to dust
off the car (as I am used to doing everyday with it waxed) - there
was nothing to do! There was not a speck of dust anywhere! One week
later - still no dust! Having owned many Corvettes over the past 35 years
I REALLY did not believe that anti-static claim, but I could not argue with
the facts. I am used to washing my car 2-3 times a week, but after using
this, it was 3 months before I needed to wash it at all - and it is driven
every day! Also, the only thing it needed was to be rinsed - no soap!
7. In spite of my apparent initial results, I did not want to tempt fate. I
find it impossible to believe that anything could last for 5 years and I
figured 6-mos to a year would be acceptable if it really worked. Therefore,
in May I made the mistake of adding a coat of Best of Show wax over the
5-Star Shine. Next day covered with dust just like the old days. Second of
all - wax will not adhere to it and after the car got warm the next day it
was like wiping off a sticky film where the wax had melted on top of the
5-Star. Since I made a mess of everything, I stripped everything off and
used the 5-Star system again (had to purchase another kit with just the
two bottles). Since then I have washed the car twice (only after a rain).
Based on these results (unless the paint falls off tomorrow), I am pretty
much sold on the product. My only complaint is the opaque bottle and it
is hard to get the product to flow out of it.
I wish I had used Zaino at some point so that I could compare results.
The way I look at it, even though it is expensive, I have skipped probably
40 car washes this year so far. I usually just Speed Shine the finish 1-2
times a week now just to remove some minor dust that usually does not
even show.
The final word is I find myself admiring the shine from a distance now
everytime I come out of a restaurant where before it always looked like
a dust magnet that I had to take straight home and wipe down plus the
minor scratches are almost invisible. Ordering my 3rd kit this week.
One other thing worth mentioning, is that I have had a number of strangers
mention the exceptional shine at a ratio of about 5 to 1 over previously
- seems like almost every day now. I took my car to AvisLube last week
for my regular oil change and two of the regular guys asked if I had bought
a new car, so apparently it is not just me. My biggest reluctance to trying
the product initially was their web site. Lots of great testimonials, but the
site design struck me as a Snake Oil sale. A better web site design would
really benefit them in my opinion (of course that is my specialty).
