Im just curious about how some of yall's trucks that live up north where this extreme cold weather is hitting this week are holding up. Not supposed to get above freezing until Saturday here, with highs in the 20's and lows down in the single digits. I see up north highs are gonna be below zero and lows down to -31. now thats friggin cold!
Just wondering how these trucks hold up in this weather.
Well I made in to work today so that's a plus. It was zero this morning and no problems. I put a little extra Diesel Kleen in the tank hoping it would help.
I just got home from the store....plugged it in for about 2 hrs and she fired right up not waiting for the GP's(had to try it) and pulled out the drive with about a 1 minute warmup on high idle......the bank in town showed 7 deg on my way through......running winter blend so I did not put additive in it.......but she was not throwing heat till I got home....about 7 mile round trip
Single digits and even the plow (99 PSD) with weak batteries and a starter than might be on it way out fired right up without being plugged in. My truck starts a hundred times better than that truck but it hasn't been driven all week. Maybe tomorrow morning I will try to start it before I plow just to see what it does. My extension cords are all curled up staying warm in the garage. They said they were on strike
it was 14 at my house this morning, no block heater, just waited for the gp lamp to go out then hit the key, gives one skipcup and fires off with white smoke. let run for 15 seconds or so and drive off, low on power the 1st mile but then all is fine, cruising up the backroads its not noticeable that power is low unless you romp on it.
We've been having apparent temperatures in the -20 to -35 range for two days now. Tonight's low is -20 with the apparent temperatures approaching the -45 range. I can't remember the last time the temperature was above freezing...
The Stroker has been parked for a few days now. I highly doubt my truck would start in these temps, especially since I'm running 15w-40 plus 50 in it. There's no way in heck I'd even attempt to start it if it's not plugged in. The batts are new and the starter is only a couple months old too.
So weird I was just going to start a thread on how good my truck starts in the cold.
I was out of town working for the past 2 days my truck was not plugged in and it has been freakin cold -28C yesterday and -40C today! got in town around 7pm figured I try to fire it up and it did! it didn,t like it but it started I let it warm up for 1/2 hour.
Good batteries, good glow plugs and 0/40 oil sure pays off in the cold.
my diesel gelled up on me this mornin i forgot to plug it in last night but i jumped in fired it up and took off i couldnt get past 25 mph and about a mile down the road it threw a check engin light and died so i started it back up and let it run for about 10 min and it was fine - i never had that problem before i usually always plug it in oh well shes fine now sorry for the long story guys
Well i havent seen my baby in about a week now, but she usually starts right up when its cold. Little blue smoke for about a minute and then let it warm up for about a half hour and its all good.
Yep, it's -20 right plus whatever the windchill is. I had jump my gasser truck this morning to get er started. I should have just plugged in the stroker and I wouldn't of had that problem huh...
Nice... Please tell me you had it plugged in putz. The actual temperature here this morning was -26 plus the windchill. Thats just plain too cold for anyone to be outside working.
i have to start it many times below 0 with no problem, with out being plugged in, i have been lucky never had a no start problem plug in or not . my brother has with his 04 6'0 he can't pulg it in at work and has many no starts and my brother inlaw runs a 02 7.3 can't plug it in at his he works third and his always starts
