Yeah they will start when its that cold. You ever put some 15w-40 in a pop bottle and let it sit outside at 0 degrees for an hour and then turn it upside down?
I hope a lot of these guys doing these extreme cold starts are running 5w-30...
I usually use PS, but bought a bottle of Howe's last year that I'm using up. I have a mixture of the two in my front tank along with a shot of 911. The last time I picked up from was in Missouri two-three weeks ago and I'm not sure if it's blended or not...
I need to use my truck on saturday so hopefully it thaws out. It's supposed to get up to 20 in the afternoon.
not blended !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that don't sound good if it warms up to 20 you will be fine, yesterday i stopped helpped two truckers that were gelled up. i keep 911 and some no.1 and filter wrenches in my work truck and a good set off 25 foot jumpers as i spend a lot of hours on the road off the beatin path
the coldest i have had to work in was -50. the military trucks are wuite amazing at those extreme temps. jp-8 is a wonderful thing..... it sucks to have to change batteries in the chamber at those temps.

I do the same aswell. I try to have at least one spare of those items in or on hand just in case something happens. I'm not too worried about the fuel. I have my other pickup that I drive so it's not a big deal, but its just one of those things thats always on your mind.
I agree c00n. My father has been in the military (infantry) for 30 years and counting. He has some amazing stories about operating vehicles in artic temps.
i hear ya working out in the cold gets old after two min. i work outside for a bit and then jump in the truck and off to the next job hoping its a hour or two away. yesterdays call was 3 hours oneway 20 min. work outside and back in the truck, and then two stops to help out truckers great day could have been worse. the one trucker sat for hour plus on the side off the road no one stopped but me he was cold but was so happy i could get him going wet hands at that cold temp s&&&s
Yeah, I've been in those situations too. It's a pretty bad feeling when your on the side of the road for that reason. It's not like you can just throw on a new part and wham your back burning up the yardsticks.
Heck nowadays most people want even stop if your on the side of the road... Kind of a shame.
