I have the manual climate controls in my truck (not the digital temp readout). It blows where it's supposed to, but at times will not shut off when in the off position. The problem seems to be somewhere between the floor/vent, off and floor positions. I can get it to shut off when turning the dial between the off and floor/vent positions.
Sometimes it will shut off in the off position momentarily, but then start blowing again without moving anything.
Anyone else have this problem? Is there a simple fix or should I take it to the dealer?
Well, I ended up taking it to the dealer and there was a short somewhere causing it to act up. They replaced the control head under warranty and it's fixed. Also had the brake booster recall done (don't know why I never got a letter).
Now I only have 140mi left on the 3yr/36k warranty. Would love to get a Ford ESP and extend the warranty to 6yr/75k but don't really have that kind of cash right now. So far I've had this control head and an alternator replaced under warranty. What other common problems with these trucks might I see?
Extended warranty would have been a waste on my 96 bought new and put on 200K. Also on our Dodge van with 134K, the only thing it's ever needed was a water pump and a 3-in piece of vacuum line.
