A/C and vent controls

RE;2000 F-350 My A/C stays on in all other vent positions but shuts off when the dial is turned to the off position. Also the vents stay on defrost even when turned to floor or front vents.there is still good vacuum in the system.

If you are talking about the compressor running, they do that. It will run in every position except vent and floor heat. The vent defaulting to defrost is a classic symptom of a vacuum leak. How did you determine that your system doesn't leak?

Thanks for the reply Joe. If I move the vacuum motors manually it feels and sounds like there is vacuum pressure in there. My electronic shift wasn,t working becuase of a vacuum leak, I fixed that but was wondering if the two run on the same vaccum?

They both work off the same vacuum system. If your ESOF works it could be the position switch in the dash or the wiring going to it. Check all your fuses?

Look behind/under the glove box. There is a vaccum port that comes unpluged easilly.

Thanks for the reply guys. The problem links to my vacuum. All heater control vacuum lines were fine so I tried my ESOF and this created possibly more vacuum and the controls worked. Is the compressor tired? I think I almost got this one beat.
