Yea-with the 1500 watt ones it will heat up and start quick. The thing you have to watch is that it will start instantly even with a short pre-heat-but the oil is still really cold-hasn't had time to pick up any of the heat from the coolant and is very thick and won't lube well at all. Synthetic oil helps with this.
That is very true especially where you are. We only have a few days below zero. I think we are up to 17 days below zero, but we are colder than normal this year. I always use ford synthetic blend.
Yes it has two fittings for heater hose connection.
the instructions tell you to connect the top fitting into a heater hose and a "Y" connector is provided in the kit. That is the easy part.
The bottom fitting is supposed to connect to a fitting, screwed into the block thru a freeze/drain plug. There is a perfect spot on the Drivers side of the 5.4 V8 but the heater hoses are all on the passenger side of the engine. I could make it work but the plumbing would be a mess. I was hoping that there was a similar freeze/drain plug on the passenger side of the engine to tap into. It would still be ackward with the starter and A/C unit on that side but it might be able to make it work. But I cant find a suitable freeze/drain plug on the passenger side.
I suppose it would work to tap into the two heater hoses but the circulation might be limited to the heater core and really not flow thru the block.
I will keep studying it.
Thanks
