97 block heater

block heater isnt workin on my 97? gonna try a different extension cord first, but if that fails still, i'll replace teh block heater cord, and if THAT fails, then replace the actual block heater itself. wondering if anybodies done this before on a 97 or model year similar to it. if so, how involving is it and how much trouble am i going to be in if i have to replace the block heater? how long does it take and stuff?

thanks

what plug are you talking about? the actual three prong electrical connector that plugs into the extension cord? check that plug?

what/where is the actual block heater itself anyways? i looked here at college on all data and it's showing an object that the cord plugs into directly above the oil filter, i looked on teh truck and there is what looks to be a brass object threaded into there. about 1 1/2 inch diameter. all data said this was the block heater? is that true? that small and simple?

I'm sorry, yes the three prong plug one of my wires was broken inside the insulation . I just cut it off and replaced it. As far as I can tell yes that's it, of course you will have to drain your coolant before you pull it out.
