How about changing to K&N CAI? Good idea? increase intereior noise, help MPG? Any downside?
there are many threads on here for both ups and downs on K&N CAI's and drop ins.. i run a drop in - in my stang and personally love it.. i got a 3 more mpg average.. but dont notice anymore more noise less im tapping the throttle for Fun.. Id pulled the air silencer off my air box to allow more air in go i can hear the trottle gasp when the throttles tapped..
Thanks for the input. 3 mpg WOW! Man that would be sweet. I looked at the kn website and it said I would get a 12 hp boost at like 4000+ rpm. I dont usually run that hard. Is it safe to say my gains wouldnt be as strong as 3mpg? At that point I rerally wonder if it is worth the money for the unit.

depends on how you drive... youd probably get better with the full intake.. i know for their drop in's K&N "guarantee" a 10% increase in fuel mileage.. i just know what i get from mine.. i cant really speak for others...
I quit using Fram years ago. Currently I run Mobile-1 oil in my truck and Cadillac and use Mobile-1 filters in both. I just can't get over the glued-on cardboard end caps Fram uses. I prefer metal. Quality oil and quality filters are cheap insurance.
DITTO!! With a Supercharger I don't have a light foot and can't afford to replace my engine.
Thanks Sparky83. I'll stll consider the whole intake and not just the drop in.
Check the Volant out - the link in my sig takes you to a thread where I discuss installing it, and there's a tech article on the installation I wrote up.
I didn't see an increase in mileage with my K&N CAI and exhaust.(When I only had them and a tuner) These V10s get pretty close to optimum mpgs from factory. I am really more concerned with power than mpg.
I used Fram oil filters for decades because of their ad's..."pay me now or pay me later"... What I found out is that the later Fram oil filters and Ford's do not work well together. Their ADBV is a poor design for an engine that requires it in the filter, as Ford does.
Even with the black Nitrile valve ADBV the Motorcraft FL1A oil filter still held oil better than the Fram oil filters. And Motorcraft oil filters at Walmart are less expensive than the orange Frams.
well if yall would like a little trivia... Motorcraft filters are actually made by Purolator... Just made to a better standard than the standard Purolator filter....
