Well, it turns out that the '92 Nite SuperCab that I'd been hoping to get won't be mine after all.
I had a long conversation with my aunt (who is selling the truck), my wife, and myself, and we're all in agreement that I don't need to get out of one truck and into another which will need some work.
My aunt's son-in-law had a mechanic check the truck over, and it will need a new fuel pump (the rear tank is dead) and a new oil pan ... it's cracked. Plus a few other things. The estimate came to more than $1500.
One of her son-in-law's friends wants to buy it for $1500 and he is able to fix it ... and, since I'm disabled and not able to do that kind of work anymore, I'm OK with it.
I am still considering selling Red, because one of the wife's co-workers needs a set of wheels, plus he's willing to pay what I'm asking.
So I may well be without a pickup for a while. But don't worry, I'm still going to get a newer, roomier F-150 at some point. It won't be the one I really wanted, but it'll be the right one.
Well, it is better to find all this stuff out before I drop my money on something I'd have to put in the shop before I could even drive it home. THAT would suck. Not to mention I'd probably incur enough wrath from the wife to have to live in it for a month or so based on the repair estimate.
I can't say I'm not depressed about it. That would be lying. But I know it's going to be well taken care of. I just wish I'd known all this up front before I got my hopes up. Aww, it happens I guess.
wow that is a downer, sorry to hear that. I was going to say the rear fuel pump is not a necessary fix if the front one still works. my 94 super cab has never run off the rear pump since i owned it. The oil pan though is a different story, must have ran over something to crack it....
